2012 Resolution List

So I have started my 2012 list.

I plan on adding more as something comes along.

Or erasing.

Either way it's a start :)

So here is my 2012 list:

-Graduate with my A.S.

-Transfer to a university.

-Get an internship.

-Go on a mission.

-Feed the hungry.

-Help someone in need.

-Grow my friendships.

-Go Kayaking.

-Get involved with the community/city.

-Teach someone something new.

-Go hiking.

-Make a difference.

-Start a relationship.

-Cook more and eat out less.

-Take advantage of open opportunities.

-Get on a workout schedule.

-Racquetball Tournaments

-Kill as many spiders as possible.

-Check out the local sites.

-Blog more about experiences/life.

So as you can see there are a number of things on my list.

Some kind of go together and are broad so that if for example I hike to see somewhere new, that's 2 in 1 ;)

I'm excited for the new year. 2011 hasn't been too bad but a fresh start will be nice.

So lets kick things off the right way and make the best of 2012 :)

Life: One Still at a Time

I've been back on the Harbor since the 15th now and I've taken a bunch of pictures with my phone and want to share some of them with y'all. So lets jump in and check em out:

This is a picture I took out at the beach in Ocean Shores. The sky was on fire from the setting sun and with the waves rolling in it made for a sweet moment.

This is me, taken on the same beach, about 20-30 minutes before the first picture. Don't mind the beard, I normally let it grow out when I'm in Washington. Totally the Mountain Man in me.

Speaking of beards, this is exactly what I would look like if I grew my beard out to this length. I have no more words for this... lol

I love the way this picture turned out. I took this on my walk the other day while out on the Sand Piper Trail. The original picture has color to it but I was playing with an app on my phone and this is how it turned out. I love the way the sun ray comes over the T. And for those that don't know the T is for the University of Tennessee. Since being in Washington, some have confused it with other T's like Texas. Go Vols!

I will make sure to keep putting more pictures and post's up here. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and you're looking forward to the new year!

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams,

Michael J. Moorman

Prayer of the Children

Can you hear the prayer of the children?
On bended knee, in the shadow of an unknown room.
Empty eyes with no more tears to cry, turning heavenward toward the light.

Crying, "Jesus, help me, to see the morning light of one more day,

But if I should die before I wake, I pray my soul to take.”
Can you feel the hearts of the children, aching for home,
For something of their very own.
Reaching hands with nothing to hold onto, but hope for a better day, a better day.

Crying, "Jesus, help me, to feel the love again in my own land,

But if unknown roads lead away from home, give me loving arms, away from harm.
Can you hear the voice of the children, softly pleading for silence in their shattered world?

Angry guns preach a gospel full of hate, blood of the innocent on their hands.

Crying, "Jesus, help me, to feel the sun again upon my face?

For when darkness clears, I know you're near, bringing peace again.
Can you hear the prayer of the children?

A Sand Piper Journey

Today I took some time to go for a walk to one of my favorite places. Out near the Hoquiam airport there is a walking trail called Sand Piper Trail. It's not an overly long walk in but does go out to the bay. It is so nice and peaceful out there, and along the way you'll see some dedicated bird watchers from all over the world.

Today's weather was just right for a walk. It wasn't hot but not really too cold either. Nice enough so that as you walked you stayed cool enough and wouldn't be sweating like crazy.

I went by myself, which wasn't bad, but is always nice to have someone to go with and share the journey.

Here is a picture I took from the walkway on the way out.

Growing up on the west coast I have overlooked so many of God's creations. Just five minutes away from the house I grew up in I have witnessed some of the most beautiful sunsets along the bay. I can't even describe a sunset from the North Jetty out in Ocean Shores, sitting on the huge rocks as waves crash along them. Everyone always wants to get out of Grays Harbor because they say it's depressing and all kinds of other excuses, but if they were to just open their eyes and look at the beauty that is all around, even in just this little part of the world there is a lot to offer. Find the good in things.

Don't wait!

So with Christmas here in just a couple of days and the new 2012 year shortly after that, I'm beginning to think of my 2012 New Years Resolution list. OK, we don't have to give it that big long fancy name but we can simply call it my list of goals for 2012 lol. I have done this for a few year and for the most part has seemed effective. I don't put things on my list that are so hard to achieve but I do put things that I have always wanted to do and are challenging in some way or another.

I thought about sharing my lists from the past couple years but I can't find my 2011 list so here is my list from 2010:
-Live healthier.
-Be successful with college.
-Make a difference in someones life.
-Be better/smarter with money.
-Go on hikes.
-Begin a relationship.
-Get involved in some sort of government committee.
-Enjoy the little things in life.

The cool thing about this list is I can check most of these off :o) Some of these I need to re-add to my 2012 list lol. I don't have my 2012 list made yet but once I get it together I am going to post it on here and every time I am able to check one off I want to blog about that experience, that's actually something that is on my list, to blog more ;)

There was something I wanted to share before I come to an end on this post. As most of us think about our new years list we think about things we can change or things we've always wanted to do etc. I want to encourage you that if there's something you're passionate about, don't wait for the new year, begin now! I'm posting a link to a video below this, it's 4 minutes long and very encouraging, please watch it and remember what Mark Bezos says, don't wait until you make your first million to make a difference. Do it now, save the shoes ;)

I hope you all are having a safe Christmas Break and look forward to a Merry Christmas!
